Payments and Payment Security
Payment Methods
Payments for orders placed on Rebel Refine may be processed through the secure payment services provided by Stripe and PayPal.
Depending on the payment methods available at the time of checkout, customers may be able to pay using:
- credit or debit cards processed through Stripe;
- PayPal;
- or any other payment method that may be made available through Stripe or PayPal at checkout.
The payment methods actually available to the customer are displayed during the checkout process.
Payment Through Stripe
Card payments may be processed securely by Stripe, an independent payment service provider.
Where Rebel Refine uses Stripe's secure payment technologies such as Stripe Checkout or Stripe Elements, payment card information is transmitted directly to Stripe through its secure infrastructure.
Rebel Refine does not require customers to send their complete payment card details by email, contact form or any other unsecured communication method.
Stripe applies security standards applicable to the payment card industry, including PCI DSS requirements.
Payment Through PayPal
Customers may also be able to pay for their orders using PayPal.
When PayPal is selected, the payment transaction is processed through PayPal's secure payment infrastructure and may require the customer to log in to their PayPal account or use another payment option made available by PayPal.
Rebel Refine does not receive the customer's full PayPal financial information, such as complete card or bank account details, when such information is processed directly by PayPal.
The use of PayPal is also subject to the terms, security procedures and policies applicable to the customer's relationship with PayPal.
Secure Payment Processing
Rebel Refine takes reasonable measures to ensure that payments made through the website are processed through recognised and secure payment service providers.
Payment information transmitted to Stripe or PayPal may be protected using encryption and other security technologies implemented by the relevant payment provider.
Customers should never communicate their complete payment card number, security code or PayPal password to Rebel Refine by email or through the website's contact form.
Strong Customer Authentication and 3-D Secure
For certain card payments, additional authentication may be required in accordance with applicable European payment regulations and the security requirements of the customer's bank or payment provider.
This authentication may include, for example:
- 3-D Secure authentication;
- confirmation through a banking application;
- a one-time security code;
- biometric authentication;
- or another authentication method required by the payment service provider or issuing bank.
Rebel Refine cannot disable an authentication step when it is required by the customer's bank, Stripe, PayPal or applicable regulations.
Payment Authorisation
An order is considered paid only after confirmation or authorisation of the payment by the relevant payment service provider.
Submitting an order does not guarantee that the payment will be accepted.
Stripe, PayPal, the card issuer or the customer's bank may refuse, suspend or require additional verification of a transaction for security, regulatory or fraud-prevention reasons.
Declined Payments
A payment may be declined for various reasons, including:
- insufficient funds;
- incorrect payment information;
- an expired payment card;
- failure of authentication;
- a restriction imposed by the issuing bank;
- a security alert;
- suspected fraud;
- or a technical problem affecting the payment service.
If a payment is declined, the customer may be invited to use another payment method or contact their bank, Stripe or PayPal, depending on the circumstances.
Payment Confirmation
Once payment has been successfully authorised, the customer may receive an order confirmation from Rebel Refine.
The customer may also receive a separate payment confirmation directly from Stripe, PayPal, their bank or another payment provider.
Customers are encouraged to keep their order and payment confirmations until the transaction has been fully completed.
Fraud Prevention
Transactions may be subject to automated or manual checks intended to prevent fraud, payment abuse, identity theft and unauthorised transactions.
Rebel Refine, Stripe or PayPal may request additional information or verification where reasonably necessary to verify the legitimacy of a transaction.
Where there are legitimate reasons to suspect fraud or unauthorised use of a payment method, Rebel Refine may suspend the processing of an order while appropriate checks are carried out.
Any such measures shall be implemented in accordance with applicable law and shall be proportionate to the identified risk.
Unauthorised Transactions
If a customer believes that their payment method has been used without authorisation, they should contact their bank, card issuer, PayPal or the relevant payment service provider without delay.
The customer may also contact Rebel Refine at:
hello@rebel-refine.pro
Rebel Refine will cooperate, where appropriate and legally required, with the relevant payment provider in reviewing the transaction.
Payment Data
Payment transactions may require certain information to be transmitted to Stripe or PayPal in order to process the transaction, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations and provide payment-related services.
This information may include, depending on the payment method:
- customer identification information;
- billing information;
- order amount;
- transaction reference;
- IP address or technical information;
- payment status;
- and information necessary for fraud prevention and regulatory compliance.
The processing of personal data by Rebel Refine is described in our Privacy Policy.
Stripe and PayPal may also process personal data as independent payment service providers in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable legal obligations.
Refunds Through Stripe or PayPal
Where a refund is due, Rebel Refine will normally issue the refund through the payment method used for the original transaction, unless another method is expressly agreed with the customer and permitted by applicable law.
For example:
- a payment made through Stripe will normally be refunded through the relevant Stripe transaction;
- a payment made through PayPal will normally be refunded through PayPal.
Once Rebel Refine has initiated a refund, additional processing time may be required by Stripe, PayPal, the customer's bank or card issuer before the refunded amount appears in the customer's account.
This banking or payment-processing period is outside Rebel Refine's direct control.
Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Customers who believe that there is a problem with an order are encouraged to contact Rebel Refine first at hello@rebel-refine.pro so that we can attempt to resolve the matter promptly.
This does not limit any statutory right the customer may have to dispute an unauthorised or incorrect payment with their bank, card issuer, Stripe, PayPal or another competent payment provider.
Where a payment dispute, chargeback or PayPal dispute is opened, Rebel Refine may provide the payment provider with information reasonably necessary to examine the dispute, such as:
- order information;
- payment confirmation;
- customer communications;
- shipping information;
- tracking information;
- proof of delivery where available;
- and information concerning any return or refund already processed.
Such information will only be used or disclosed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and for the legitimate handling of the dispute.
Currency and Conversion Fees
The currency applicable to an order is displayed before the customer confirms the purchase.
Where a customer's bank account or payment account uses a different currency, the bank, PayPal, card issuer or payment provider may apply its own currency conversion rate or additional fees.
Any such fees imposed independently by the customer's bank or payment provider are outside Rebel Refine's control.
No Request for Payment Outside the Official Checkout
For security reasons, customers should only make payments using the payment methods officially offered through the Rebel Refine checkout process.
Rebel Refine will never ask a customer to provide their PayPal password, complete card security code or online banking password by email.
If you receive a suspicious message claiming to represent Rebel Refine and requesting sensitive payment information, please do not provide the requested information and contact us at hello@rebel-refine.pro.
Payment Service Availability
Stripe and PayPal are independent third-party payment service providers.
Temporary interruptions, maintenance operations or technical incidents affecting Stripe, PayPal, banking networks or card networks may occasionally prevent or delay payment processing.
Where reasonably possible, customers may be offered another available payment method.
Applicable Consumer Rights
The use of Stripe or PayPal as a payment service provider does not reduce or replace the rights granted to consumers under applicable French and European consumer protection legislation.
Rebel Refine remains the seller for orders concluded directly through the Rebel Refine website and remains responsible for its obligations as a seller in accordance with applicable law.
